First, I suppose I should mentioned that baby #5 is another BOY! His big sister chose his first name, Golfer gave him his middle name and, well, I am insistent that he have my Pawpaw's middle name, as well. So the poor kid has three names, plus his last name. The way I see it, though, nobody has to know he has those three names unless he tells them. I went to high school with a kid who hated his middle name so much he didn't even let them use it at graduation. Still, to this day, am completely clueless as to what his middle name is....so, it's not that big of a deal I don't think. Anyway, Crafty was very happy to be getting a brother. She informed us the day before the ultrasound that if it was a boy, it would be "Happy Crafty and happy Daddy." but if it was a girl, it would be "Sad Crafty and sad Daddy." (and that she would also lock herself in her bedroom for the rest of her life if she got another sister). Sassy, of course, could care less. She's completely oblivious, but of course, she's only 17 months old. At the ultrasound, I was having a lot of Braxton Hicks, so they had a difficult time seeing where the placenta ended. There's a possibility it's close to the cervix, but they're not sure. I go back for another ultrasound at 28 weeks so they'll look at it again then. (I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow.) Anyway, all is going well, though. Now I just need to come up with a nickname for him to use on the blog! For now, I guess, he'll just be "L" until I know his personality.
Sassy. Oooooh Sassy. She keeps me on my toes. Right now she loves to take the bells off the Christmas tree. So glad I thought to put all the breakable ones up high where she can't reach them! Just waiting for her to discover the presents that already wrapped and under the tree. That should be an experience. She looooooves cheese. Yesterday, she was following me around the kitchen saying over and over again "Mmmmm, chzzzz". She wanted me to get her a slice of cheese. LOL. When she wants food, or another bite, she just says over and over again "mmmmm". I say she's getting her food motor going. Of course, if you're taking longer than she thinks you should be, the "mmmm"s get more insistent and deeper. The main things we can get her to eat, though, are cheese and bread. If either of those are at the table, she refuses anything else. She also is our little fish. She would stay in the bathtub all day if we would let her! She loves to be in the water. Her favorite thing, though, is still her big sister. Well, as long as Crafty doesn't get in her face. Don't worry, though, she definitely makes it known when she wants her to back off....with a nice shove. Ha. Something tells me the dynamic between her and her younger brother will be interesting, as well!
Crafty is doing so well at school. Before Thanksgiving, we had her parent/teacher conference and her teacher told me that she has already accomplished all the district wants kindergartners to accomplish before the end of the year. She gave me a list of first grader sight words to work on with her and said that she's working on a list of things she (the teacher) wants the more advanced students to accomplish before first grade. It's good to know that she is thinking of ways to keep those students engaged in the classroom. She lives for the times she gets to go outside and play with her friends, though her time right now is very limited due to the time change. When she can't play outside, she usually is coloring. There are some mornings I go in her room to wake her up for school and she's already up and coloring in her coloring books! She'll be so excited when she sees the easel my mom and dad got her for Christmas! Yesterday, I was in the kitchen and Hope asked me what it was she would get in her stocking if she was bad this year. I told her coal, but that when I was little, I used to say you would get lightbulbs and cornbread because I thought those were the two worst things to get as gifts. She was quiet for a moment then said "....but I like cornbread....and lightbulbs are useful. " Ha.
Anyway, so that's our update for now! I'll try not to make the next one go for three months. Too much happens to remember it all and I know I'm missing a lot...definitely need to keep my updates more frequent.
